Athens, Greece, 12–14 February 2020. EMSO ERIC, the European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and water-column Observatory Research Infrastructure Consortium, has announced the 2020 EMSO Conference: preparing for UN Decade of Ocean Science. The intent of the United Nations Organisation’s 2021-2030 Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development is to ensure the future sustainable management of the Oceans.
Organised in Athens in February, the conference aims to offer an international scientific framework to increase the coordination and the effectiveness of international cooperation worldwide. EMSO ERIC welcome marine researchers, engineers, and representatives of industry, institutions, research infrastructures and funding agencies to take part in the exchange of information, best practices, and strategy alignment.
The conference, designed to contribute to the improvement of the conditions for sustainable development and fulfilment of societal needs, by increasing awareness of the importance of the Ocean’s health, is divided into four main themes: Ocean health and biodiversity; Climate change; Hazards (natural and anthropogenic); and the Blue economy.
